A Level Media reading list and wider opportunities

 -I wish to get to all of the opportunities and hopefully I will, but I am focusing on the"There Ain't No Black in the Union Jack: The Cultural Politics of Race and Nation by Paul Gilroy" magazine, the creative mentor network which I've already signed up for, and I'm exploring the option and opportunities on the BFI website.

Film language presentation

 -Blade Runner-- The poster has dark colours, there's a close-up shot of the protagonist /hero characters face with very serious and solemn expression, he is holding a gun and there is an antagonistic /non-human lady holding a cigarette. The backdrop is filled with futuristic skyscrapers and a flying car.There is a tagline saying "Man has made his match...now its his problem,", The title of the film is in a bold font, the movie is R-rated. The culmination of the colours,the weapon prop  and the rating of the movie shows that its for adults and could include graphic or sexual content. Protagonists and antagonists are binary opposites , communicated by the drastic change in lighting and further supported as the antagonist is stereo-typically holding a cigarette. - T he Grand Budapest Hotel:   C-The costume of the character is not highlighted at all, except for the characters hat and glasses, that are reflecting some light, bringing attention to them. The use of enigma codes through the use of back lighting to create a contrasting silhouette shrouds the scene in mystery and adds to the suspense of the scene. The costume of the character that is shown connotes academia due to the glasses, professional hat and coat. L-The contrasting lighting of the scene guides the audiences attention to the both the figure and the background, it raises question of who the character is, what they're motives are, what is the setting and overall adds to tension of the scene.
